Spooler + KQED = “The Latest”
February 3rd, 2025

We’re thrilled to work with one of our favorite public radio stations, KQED in San Francisco, on their new daily news podcast, The Latest: Trusted Local News in Real Time.

KQED’s innovation team worked with Spooler to solve a problem: listeners love podcasts, but news can grow stale quickly, even with a daily show. The Latest solves that problem by dynamically updating with fresh news throughout the day, serving listeners the most recent updates from the KQED newsroom.

Spooler’s intuitive drag-and-drop interface allows KQED’s producers to assemble the show in minutes. And thanks to a new feature, Spooler automatically updates specific show segments with new content dynamically pulled from Omny Studios. The updated episode is then pushed to KQED’s podcast hosting service, seamlessly replacing the old version.

Technology by Spooler. Journalism by KQED. The result? A daily show with the subscription advantages of a podcast and the freshness of live news. The Latest meets KQED’s listeners where they are, on their schedule. Give it a listen—we love it.
